Many couples who had waited the wait, to walk the walk down the aisle, and prove that #loveisnotcancelled because of global pandemic, finally got their chance last summer, as case numbers lowered and the situation temporarily seemed to stabilize.
Everything about Mackenzie and Amir’s sunny wedding day was absolutely dreamy. I was so happy that this day turned out as beautifully as it did, for this sweet couple, including a well deserved feature in THE KIT, as the photos by Rust & Bark did justice to every perfect detail of this celebration of love.
Mackenzie and I met in 2019 when I did her hair and makeup trial. Since she and Amir delayed their wedding by a year, it was two years till we saw each other again! Luckily, we kept in touch on Whatsapp, as she was getting ready to launch Fable Floral, her floral design business (or ‘Wizness’- Woman owned business!) last year, and I had just launched my non-toxic skincare line, Kavana Skincare at the close of 2020. I was so happy to see her after so much social distancing and be reunited with her on her happy day!
Maureen and I arrived at the Air Bn’B where Mackenzie was staying and getting ready that morning. Her beautiful sister and young nieces and nephews ran out to greet us, as the boys and their father went off to breakfast and the bride, her sister and her nieces stayed behind to get glam with us, naturally!
As excited as her niece, the bride’s joy was practically tangible. Her long hair seemed to take no time at all to get into perfect beachy waves – a team effort with Maureen on blow-out duty and me on the 1’s and 2’s – curling iron and brush! Her makeup was a total cinch, as she chose the wise, ‘less is more’ route for her country wedding.
The groom’s bubbly mother and sister arrived a little later on in the morning, and we had a delightful time with them too!
It was such a pleasure to be a small part of this beautiful couple’s special day and such a privilege to meet their family. I can’t wait to meet the newest member of your family Mackenzie and Amir, and I am so grateful to have gotten to share in part of your big day with you!
